Joel E. Barthelemy, Chief Executive Officer

As Founder, Director and CEO of GlobalMed, Mr. Barthelemy has a vision of quality, timely care for all through connected health.   He has spent 14 of his 25+ years in the technology industry focused on the development of connected health systems.  

Under Mr. Barthelemy’s leadership, GlobalMed has improved the delivery of healthcare in over 55 countries and has designed the system that have helped to deliver over 2 million consults to US veterans in 2014 (the largest deployment of Telemedicine in the world). He and his team developed the first lightweight, true HD video examination camera and the first cloud-based Image Management Exchange for Telemedicine.  Mr. Barthelemy has been recognized as an outstanding innovator, community advocate, and a high-growth tech company leader.   Click here to view recent awards.

Active in his community and industry, Mr. Barthelemy currently sits on the board of Sun Health Services, Arizona Bio Industry and Paradise Valley Christian College Preparatory.  He is an Ambassador to the Veterans Medical Leadership Council and is a board advisor for SEE4Vets.  He has served as a board member of the American Telemedicine Association (ATA), where he chaired the ATA’s Industry Council, and was a board member of the Visual Communications Industry Group, a high-tech industry think tank. Barthelemy and GlobalMed give back to the community through generous commitments to programs including: Toys for Tots, the Jennifer Lopez Family Foundation, Blanket the City, the Wounded Warrior Project, the Diaper Bank of Central Arizona, the American Heart Association, the United Blood Services Blood Drive, Phoenix Theatre, Celebrity Fight Night/Mohamed Ali Parkinson’s Foundation, and the Andrea Bocelli Foundation.

Mr. Barthelemy attended St. Cloud State University, received a certificate from Thunderbird School of International Management and received an honorable discharge as a non-commissioned officer from the United States Marine Corp Reserves.

Bill Lewis, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer

As an expert in the field of occupational medicine, urgent care, telemedicine and utilization review, Dr. Lewis brings more than 30 years’ experience as both a physician and health care executive. 

Prior to joining GlobalMed, Dr. Lewis was the Senior Vice President, Medical Operations at Concentra, where he led the development and implantation of Concentra’s 300 Urgent Care Centers. Over the last five years, he focused on Employer Worksite clinics, Wellness and Telemedicine services.  Dr. Lewis currently serves in the following organizations:  WOEMA Board of Directors and Legislative Committee, Arizona State Industrial Commission Evidence Based Medicine Committee and the American Telemedicine Association Standards and Guidelines Primary Care Working Group.

Dr. Lewis received his BS from University of Cincinnati, medical degree from Ohio State University and did his residency at University of Oklahoma. He received his MBA from University of Phoenix.

Michael D. Harris, Chief Technology Officer

With over 25 years of patented product design and development and several thriving companies under his belt, Michael Harris is dedicated to the craft of innovative product design and User Interface theory. As Chief Technology Officer at GlobalMed, Mr. Harris is responsible for leading the software and hardware innovation.  Together with Mr. Barthelemy, they share the same vision in shaping healthcare’s responsiveness and affordability. He has received numerous professional awards including:  Governor’s Innovation Award for Technology n Education (MN), TIES Best Product of the Year.  Mr. Harris has several patents (and a dozen patents pending) for technologies that he has developed.

Prior to joining GlobalMed, Mr. Harris was the founder of several successful technology companies including: iREZ Research Corp. (the first company to introduce a mobile video camera to the Macintosh Laptop); Harris Laboratories, Inc. (a fabricator of solid-state memory devices and processor accelerators); and VideoLabs, Inc.,(NASDAQ: VLAB) as the Director of Digital Technologies and Director of Marketing. VideoLabs developed one of the first generations of professional desktop video collaboration and video conferencing applications.  

Mr. Harris completed the Electronic Engineering program at North Central Technical Institute, and went on to study Music and Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin and Computer Sciences at the University of Minnesota. He completed post-graduate work in Industrial Engineering Sciences while attending Katholieke Hogeschool Brugge-Oostende in Belgium.

Manoel Coelho, MBA, Chief Commercial Officer

As GlobalMed’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Coelho brings 15 years’ experience in the telemedicine industry and extensive international business experience.  He has been instrumental in expanding GlobalMed’s commercial reach to more than 50 countries, including telemedicine programs at the London and Rio de Janeiro Olympics, on remote oil platforms and disaster relief efforts throughout the world.  He has been instrumental in building strong relationships with strategic partners to enhance organizational productivity.

Prior to joining GlobalMed he served as Director of Commercial Maritime Sales at MedAire, Inc., an International SOS Company.  Fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish, Mr. Coelho’s diplomatic and cross-cultural experience allows him to bridge cultural barriers and build strong international partnerships.

Manoel earned his MBA with honors from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona, after completing his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. 

Neal Schoenbach, Vice President of Business Development

As Vice President of Business Development, Neal leads GlobalMed’s North American team of sales professionals, and has been instrumental providing solutions to GlobalMed’s customers that have led to greater access to care with better patient outcomes, while lowering costs.

Neal began his career at GlobalMed in 2009 as the Telemedicine Design Manager where he led numerous successful national telemedicine deployments. He was promoted to the Southwest Regional Sales Manager role and eventually in a senior leadership position. Prior to joining GlobalMed, Early in his career, Neal gained valuable experience while working in the pharmaceutical, real estate and banking industries. 

Neal attended Pepperdine University and the University of Arizona where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Biology and Chemistry, which led to his passion into the healthcare industry.  

Brad Schmidt, Director of Business Development for Strategic Accounts

Brad was the Director of Finance during the initial launch of GlobalMed in 2002. For seven years he served as the Western Regional Sales Vice President for ZipRealty, a top 5 technology-based national real estate public company. Brad has also held senior financial and operational positions in the real estate, manufacturing and internet/high tech industries from start-ups to large entities, and brings strong experience working across B2B customer and OEM partner channels.

As a CPA, Brad spent his early professional career as audit consultant with Arthur Andersen in their Los Angeles and Phoenix offices, where he gained solid public accounting and financing experience in healthcare, real estate, and distribution-based enterprises. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.
