Q: How does this device connect to my computer?
A: This device connects via a USB 2.0 port. You may also connect via an analog port if you choose to do so, meaning you'll need an adapter like the USBLive! 2.0 or 4xQ1 in order to view this input type on your computer.
Q: Do I have to have an internet connection to use this device?
A: The device can function without an internet connection, however, video conferencing does require a connection.
Q: The camera will not zoom out far enough. How can I get everything in the display?
A: The lens equipped in the camera is not a wide-angle lens, however, you can purchase one from our online store that will allow it to do this.
Q: Is there a driver for this device?
A: The i5990 does use a driver. It is contained on the CD shipped with the i5990, or it can be downloaded from the link above.
Q: When I plug the camera in, it says USB Live! as my device. Is this normal?
A: This is normally caused by the presence of a USB Live! on the system previously (or at the same time). This is actually perfectly fine, and you should not have any ill effects if you leave it in this state, but if you would like to correct it, you can install the driver above for the camera and it should resolve the issue.
Q: When connecting via S-Video, I am not getting any kind of video. What should I do?
A: Capture devices sometimes will have more than a single input source. Many times it will default automatically to a composite input type, and simply changing the input source to S-Video in the software's configuration screen will correct this..
Q: I plan on mounting the camera upside down. How can I flip the image so that it looks correct?
A: This is an option that you can configure through your video capture software's configuration screen. When you enter the device properties, it will have an option to do this.
Q: After connecting everything, all of the lights are on, but I am not getting any kind of video. What should I do?
A: This model is equipped with a green toggle switch that will allow it to switch between internal and external video. If this switch is in the up position (it will be flashing), then it is set to external. Simply press the button and it should switch to internal and display the picture.
